I know nothing about Cognac but this caught my eye:

Maxime Trijol Cognac Grande Rare Brandy 70cl - £750 but still a bargain apparently!

I’d never heard of Maxime Trijol Cognac, but there again, I’m not a cognac connoisseur.http://store.approvedfood.co.uk/alcohol/maxime_tri...

I used to go for Rémy Martin, or Courvoisier, probably because they were “names” rather like Moët et Chandon, for champagne.
Incidentally, Moët stems from Dutch and is sometimes pronounced as Mwet, or more often Mowet, the t is normally silent, but not always in words that start with a capital.
A nice change from cognac, is Calvados, an apple brandy from Normandy, or Armagnac, a brandy from Gascony.
When my younger son was stationed in Lippstadt, Germany, he brought home for me a bottle of Asbach, a German brandy, very nice too.
