Anyone in the trade aware of a retail butcher who x-rays their meat to check for bone fragments?

I've never heard of it but this is being used to justify higher prices and I'm struggling to believe it, butcher in question has four shops and is "award winning" but I can't see any retail butcher having an x-ray machine!

Most larger places have metal detectors but I’ve never heard of anyone having an X-ray machine.

Not a butcher, but 95% of my customers are in the meat trade and don’t know of any X rays.

Thanks

The more I think about it the more ridiculous is sounds. I will gently relay my thoughts to the customer in question and suggest they consider alternative suppliers.

Get the feck out of here.

Sounds like just a marketing ploy to pull in the crowd who are prepared to spend more not to have a small bone anywhere near their £70 beef

I'm not sure what is more expensive, filling your tank up with petrol or best cuts of beef.

Hopefully Brexit will mean we reset this insanity. Nothing wrong with lusting after some skirt in 2019 tongue out

It's worse with pork, they use gammon rays.

I’ve heard that fishmongers use sting rays.

Manufacturers of certain food products use Xrays to ensure no bones or stones, etc. Very expensive and difficult to run so your butcher is unlikely to do it himself however they may be buying it in prepped or semi prepped

And veggie growers use radishes.
