Folks,

Down in Brixham for a couple of nights and fancy treating herself to a decent meal, thinking higher end but not overly posh/stuffy...

Any ideas? Lytehouse seems to get good reviews.

Without being rude about places in Brixham but you are going to struggle for anything other than a jeans and t-shirt place.

What sort of thing you after? If its seafood then I would suggest No.7 in Torquay and also The Elephant a few doors down but don't book the M* room upstairs, just the brasserie on the ground floor. Another place the mention is the Cary Arms in Babbacombe, food is good, its great to sit outside and a regular PH'r is the manager there.

Other than that Mitch Tonks Seahorse in Dartmouth is good, exceptionally good. Great fixed price lunch as well. And of course if you go to Dartmouth early morning you might just find a spare couple of seats for breakfast at Alf Rescos but thats only a "might" especially on a weekend.

Sorry, I genuinely cannot think of anywhere I would specifically want to eat in Brixham. So many places have changed you never know what to expect or who's cooking, what you can guarantee is most of what they are serving is supplied by caterfood and straight out the freezer.

Only real place to mention is Simply Fish for fish and chips, by far the best on the harbour.

There are some nice cafes and places for a quick lunch but Brixham and Paignton cater to the mass tourist.
All the half decent places are in Torquay or further a field.
