Say 'Cone'

Add an 'S' at the beginning.

Job done.

Then apologise for being common, and promise to try and say it properly in the future.

Job done.

British dictionaries usually show the /ˈskɒn/ form (rhymes with gone) as the preferred pronunciation, while recognising the /ˈskoʊn/ form. (rhymes with tone)

As we all know, Wikipedia is 100% reliable and the most appropriate arbiter for all internet debates

Say "Gone" but replace the "G" with an "S" and a "C".

Job dun.

Why? I think this is very interesting. There's a lot of anthropological interest in this.

There is a very sharp border in southern Yorkshire, isn't there? From one extreme to another in about 50 miles.

And take a look at Ireland. The linguistic boundary exactly parallels the political and historical division of the island. This should form part of the Brexit debate. smile

Always said Scone (sgone)

Always thought anyone who said scone (cone) was a bit posh.

Probably the same people that say syoots instead of soots. (suits)

Yes I did. smile

Can I have a parrot? It'd be my first and I would be so proud.

Please...

No. They are pronounced "Bgack! If is wasn't for the cream and jam, I wouldn't have bothered, because the rest of it is like loft insulation."

When i was a child I looked at them in the bakery shop window with a label on that looked like the word cone with an s at the front so always called them that, to call them sgone you'd need to remove the e at the end.
