À la carte recommendations Kensington

Heading to London for a day out and want to take my mrs for an À la carte meal before heading home. Can anyone recommend anywhere. Preferably nearby to the Hyde Park/Kensington area.

Nothing too crazy price wise, was thinking circa £50/head (food only). Maybe a tad more if required.

a la carte (by the card), just means ordering separate dishes. Worlds your oyster, McDonalds is A la Carte..

If you mean "fine dining", you are going to struggle @ £50 a head with wine.

Zuaya is doable if you go easy on the booze.

Bar Boulud - it’s not fine dining but it’s damn good, in the Mandarin Oriental and within budget.

I took my dad to the Goring Hotel restaurant for lunch last year and they had an offer for three courses for about £50 a head, very good food and service.

What day of the week? Lunch or dinner? I ask because some really nice places do some great prices at unpopular times.

If lunch there are dozens of fine dining restaurants you could go to.

Ametsa with Instruction from Arzak is in Belgravia; went on a deal last year for about that price.

Galvins at Windows is fantastic. Within budget for lunch, but not for dinner. Incredible views too.

I little way away in Belgravia but I would recommend a visit to Petus. They do a 45quid lunch tasting menu. Food is superb.

L'atelier de Joel Robuchon is not too far away (Covent Garden)

They do a pre theatre menu available 5.30-6.30pm. It fantastic value at £45/3 courses or £65 for 5. Would fit the bill for an early dinner.

Low end - The Ivy Cafe on Ken High Street

Mid - Bar Boulud (mentioned above and it’s great)

High - Zuma (fantastic scene and very pricey)
