Christmas Dinner for singles...
Discussion
...there's a lot of stuff every festive period about loneliness and mostly pensioners having to cope with it all. Inviting someone round to fill a spare seat is admirable but what about younger people who are single?
This thread is for people who are single and don't feel like being a spare wheel when family or friends invite you over.
Christmas Turkey for one-ish.
You will need...
1/ Turkey Breast fillet.
2/ Packet of stuffing.
3/ 275ml boiling hot water and a teaspoon of butter to make the stuffing with if you get the six stuffing ball pack.
4/ Three or more rashers of bacon.
Method...

Take your Turkey breast out of the packet and slice approximately 2-3cm down and three quarters of the way across to make a flap.

Mix the stuffing as instructed on the packet with 275ml boiling water and butter. Layer about 5mm...

...and fold the flap back over.

Wrap with bacon.

Place in a tray with the rest of the stuffing in ball form and pre-heat the oven to 190'C.

Bake for 25-30 minutes depending on how crispy you prefer the bacon and balls. This was done in 26 minutes to give you an idea.

Serves two easily or one and up to three cats.

...the other ingredients are up to you. We had steak cut oven chips and cheesy mushy peas tonight.

Feel free to add your recipe ideas to this thread.

Nice thread idea.
I thought the idea of having turkey was because it is a bigger bird and can feed more. If I was single at Christmas I would be having duck cooked like a traditional goose, albeit for one.
Never got the whole turkey thing on a day were you generally eat extravagantly.

Not wanting to derail the thread but if you don't want to be alone for christmas and friends invite you over, just go. We usually have an open house for friends over christmas as we both work and our families are in other cities. We tell anyone we know that's in a similar position that they're welcome at ours on christmas day and leave it up to them if they want to come or not. We always get one or two people coming over (one year we ended up with 8 for dinner and nearly ran out of food This thread is for people who are single and don't feel like being a spare wheel when family or friends invite you over.
). It's good fun.Obviously if you just want to have the day to yourself that's cool.
Personally I'd probably just make a big bowl of roast potatoes, stuffing and gravy if I was eating on my own as they're the best bits anyway
.Plumb Pudding race day is a brilliant idea.
I may even have a semi-retired Uno from the Fiat challenge series on my driveway (if my redundancy pays out enough).
Steak would be high on my list as well but the Turkey breast was on offer at Tesco and a bit traditional.
As for just going somewhere you were invited (out of pity) all the free food and alcohol would not be enough to hide humility. Also there's a possibility your friend (mates girlfriend) will invite her single friend to make things even more uncomfortable.

90% of set ups by a mates girlfriend is to get him away from you so he can grow up and stop messing about with cars and stuff. Booooooo!

I'm not sure that many guys don't just enjoy having a day of peace and quiet where they can do whatever they please !I may even have a semi-retired Uno from the Fiat challenge series on my driveway (if my redundancy pays out enough).

That looks very tasty but you need to buy new plates!

Back on topic. I picked up a couple of rib eye Angus steaks on my way home from work this evening.
Suggestions please but as it's still pretty mild I fancy getting the barbecue out.
