Thread bump, it's British Pie Week again (7th - 13th March)

Not made a pie this year, seems a good opportunity to make one!

The question is whether to go with puff pastry or a hot water crust confused

I highly recommend the Greg Davies pie sketch.

Think I'm going for beef, will see what cuts the butcher has that may sway me.

Both the same hot water crust with a beef/mushroom/ale/onion filling depedent on recipients preference.

This one in a 6" spring form for 21Jnr who eats 3-4000 calories a day... muppet.

Then an attempt at a freeform sunken pie, worked okay.

Both look bang-on Tony!

What did you eat them with? Reluctant to do spuds/chips with a pie like these and just do buttered greens.

Sprouting broc., fine beans and peas plus an epic mashed potato made with ratte potatoes and about 50% butter.

With the dripping in the pastry probably about 200g of fat per portion!

(and enough left over int he fridge to do another!)

Mine just eat.

Ane eat.

Then eat some more.

Then go to the gym for 5 hours.

Rinse, repeat.
