Suggestions for Saturday lunch in London.
Discussion
My best mate and I are meeting up in London on Saturday 30th March for a long wine assisted lunch.
He’s suggested a few but I’ve not been into London for food for quite a few years so wondered if anyone had good suggestions.
His so far are:
The Ned

The Ivy
Tom Kerridge at Corinthia
Cheers, Gary

Alternatively, how about a wander around the gastronomic heaven that is Borough Market, with lunch at Bedales?
Roast is a good option for Borough Market as well...https://www.roast-restaurant.com/

All of these are good places but many of them have little natural light, for example the Hawksmoors (excepting Borough) and the Ned, so better suit evenings or poor weather days.
Personally I would be aiming for somewhere with great natural light and hope for a cracking spring day.
Roast is a good call - you get the vibrancy of Boro market without the incivility of being on the ground.
The Wolesley is a great room with obvious automotive plus points, the Ivy is light as well but is full of tourists on a Saturday so feels like being at a hen do.
Scott’s is always good, Fenchurch is a current favourite, and after a long break I’ve started eating back at the Oxo. I actually prefer the Bistro to the restaurant and whilst it gets a bit mumsy it’s a great place to lose a few hours.
Whatever you do I’m sure you’ll enjoy - Bon appetite

Roast at BM is pretty light, what with having floor-ceiling windows and overlooking the market.Personally I would be aiming for somewhere with great natural light and hope for a cracking spring day.

A fabulous spot, but booked up for months in advance usually.
Usually a bit easier for lunch and just good..worth a try.If you're having a boozy one, look up "bottomless brunches".
They're quite a thing lately and some are at decent places that do set menu and limitless booze (some even champagne!).
The catch of course is that they serve really slow and you can only realistically get 3-4 drinks in the alloted 1.30/2 hour lunch time.

Until you get the bill, totally average place with laughable prices. Bottomless brunch is fine if you like sitting next to a load of people who've come up from Woking.
Kerridge a good shout, the Corinthia is a lovely hotel, and ordinarily I'd say its stuffy and stay clear, but Kerridge actually has made sure his place is more normal, with normal food, proper beer, and nice decor - a good shout.
