Looking to take my mother and her partner out for Mothers day in the evening. We have done Charter 1227 and Chapter House in Salisbury in the past.

Any personal recommendations would be great!

Thanks.

The Mallett Arms in Newton Tony is nice.
A bit further away is the Harrow at Little Bedwyn which is very nice.
The Red Lion at East Chisenbury has already been mentioned.

We’ve enjoyed The Jack Russell Inn near Andover a few times now.

You’re right tho Andover has a distinct lack of decent eateries.

George and Dragon, Hurstbourne Tarrant has pretty nice food.

Andover has a distinct lack of anyway nice to eat.

Says a lot about the restaurants in the town when one of the best places is Roseboune garden centre.

The Greyhound on the test in Stockbridge is very nice, as is the Three Cups in Stockbridge. If it's a sunny day and it's just a drink whilst going to another pub, The Mayfly at leckford on the River Test is an exceptional garden location.

The Greyhound at Broughton has a really good Thai kitchen and is a lovely pub if you want something a bit different.

The Peat Spade in Longstock is also a really good food pub, nice atmosphere.

The Fox at Crawley has just back completely rebuilt by the guy who owns the Bugle in Twyford and is excellent, I think that place is really going to come good in the summer too, the outside courtyard looks great with the pizza oven.

The Hawk Inn at Amport is nice, not been there for a while though.

If you want to see what its like stepping back into the 1980's come to our village Kings Sombourne and check out the Crown Inn....

Slightly different direction, but, The Millstream at Marden (on the way to Devizes) is worth a visit

Went here in the end, thanks for the suggestion. Very nice and a good find for a relatively local pub for us.

We used to drink there in our miss spent yoof, racing from The George to The Boot, and then onto the Gibbet for a few late tinnies, in the days when Alfas where cheap rust buckets, and the local bobby rode a push bike, happy days.

Good memories! Ahhhh Alfas, in my yoof I was building a UVA Fugitive. We pulled out the Asthmatic VW air cooled 48bhp monster and put in a 130bhp Alfa flat four from a sprint cloverleaf. Alas never finished it but it would have been awesome. Wonder if it`s still around?

We had a local in Shaftesbury; Fountain Inn at bottom of Tout Hill. Used to get ratted then run up the hill to town and occasionally lose all the beer you`d drank at the top!
