Craft Whiskey. US?

I need to get a gift for someone. I know they enjoy craft whiskeys. I, on the other hand, do not!

What could I possibly get? Needs to be a available in the USA.

Something with a bit of cachet would be nice. I would get a bottle of Pappy Vanwinkle, unfortunately my budget for this gift doesn’t stretch to about $4000!

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

You could look on drinks by the dram, and get a tasting set. Quite a nice thing to do.

Bit of a thread resurrection. The 15YO WhistlePig went down a treat last time. Any changes at this end of the market? Anything else to look at?

There are quite a few I'd like to try, like the San Diego Distillery Co. who do small batch stuff.

However, I have had a few by Balcones, and they have built a pretty good reputation.
