Beyond Meat Burger
Discussion
This i don't understand. Why are there such things as Veggie burgers, Veggie Sausages, Veggie Bacon. Surly trying to recreate something that reminds you of meat is losing the point of being a vegetarian?? Why not have a mushroom burger or a Cauliflower steak rather than something that looks like meat!! or just eat a real beef burger or a pork sausage.

Cool, you don't have to go on about it in every thread though. There are already multiple threads where you can post this very valid and never before heard opinion.Pointless
I didn't know you could get the beyond meat burgers here, I'll need to try them. The American vegans rave about them.
I tried the meatless ones the other day. They were alright, had a kind of mealy texture though.
My favourite current burger is the Vivera one.

Do you have a problem with abstract thinking in general or is it just in this case? Pointless

What do you mean by "the point of being a vegetarian" ?There are numerous moral, ethical, health, economic, environmental, practical and emotional reasons for choosing not to eat meat - many of which are entirely compatible with liking the appearance, taste and texture of meat and meat products.

Because I dislike the violence, pain and suffering that goes into making a beef burger, not the taste. Pointless

If you care about plants, go vegan, there are fewer in our diet than yours because of all the plants that have to be grown to feed the animals you eat You evil b

Humans are omnivores not herbivores or carnivores. Fact.
Some people chose Vegan or Veggie or whatever they want to call themselves this week and others chose to eat meat.
Both sides should stop trying to convert the other. Simple.

Veganism is an active moral position, it is not logically consistent to expect someone to believe it is wrong to exploit animals but think it's ok for others to choose to do so. It's as logically consistent as expecting a non-racist to respect people who are, or for suffragettes to respect a man's right to deny them the vote.
