I don't like cheesecake. I've never liked cheesecake. I've tried several over the years, and never found one that I could stand more than a mouthful of.

But for some reason, if you tell somebody you don't like cheesecake - they invariably respond : You'd like mine.

If you dare to say : No I wouldn't, I don't like cheesecake - it's like you've just murdered their puppy.

No other foodstuff causes this kind of reaction. I don't particularly like lemon flavoured stuff - so at the weekend, I declined dessert because "I don't like lemon tart". The response to that is simply "OK".

But 99 times out of a 100, if I say "I don't like cheesecake" - it's like some kind of crusade begins to convince me I'm wrong.

Why?????

Don't know, but there are two types of cheesecake, cooked and uncooked. If you are eating uncooked try cooked. Totally different.

That kind of proves the point wink

That has been suggested to me recently - if I happen to come across a cooked one, I'll give it a go - but I must admit I'm not that tempted. I just don't like the flavour, and I'm not convinced making it warm is going to change that.

It’s like:

Them: “Try this cider. It’s wonderful.”

Me: “I don’t like cider. More than a mouthful gives me heartburn.”

Them: “But this one is different. It’s gorgeous.”

Me: “I’m 55 years old. I think I know. I used to be a heavy drinker, so I’ve tried most things.”

Or: “Try a size 12, these come up quite large.”

“No. I take a 13. Bye bye.”

I'm always bemused by how any normal person can have a meal at a Cheesecake Factory is the US, where the portions are immense, and then eat a chunk of cheesecake. Just thinking about makes me feel ill.

What's not to like about a decent roast potato? They have all the best bits of other types of cooked potato in one thing.
