Is this port any good?
Discussion
Hi Mike. No, it’s certainly not plonk :-) . Cockburn is an old Port producer and 2000 was a good year. This style of Port is bottled 4 to 6 years after harvest and is ready to drink when sold. There is no rush to drink it - if kept cool and out of direct sun it should be good for another 3 - 5 years. It will have a pull off stopper like a bottle of whisky so can be re-sealed after opening. Once opened it will be ok for a couple of weeks. Port quantities are small compared to other wines so you will be lucky to find any more of this one. Late bottled vintage such as this would have sold for around £25.
