I don't care whether Greggs specifically are open late or not- but it has to be a good thing for more coffee bars and the like - places not serving alcohol - to be open later.

They’ve been open late on Fridays and Saturdays in Nottingham for years, they have bouncers on the door. Their sausage rolls are great when you’re pissed

Can you imagine the disappointment waking up in bed covered in pastry crumbs & Greggs wrappers, with not even any doner meat to finish off in a hungover stupor.

fk that. When I'm pissed I want something wet, not indigestion.

Stopped of at a services on Sunday morning and had the Greggs hot drink and a bacon barm offer for £2,70. Both the coffee and the barm were excellent smile

it's weird to think that greggs are the same price in london as here up north, such good value there!

I had one this morning...Bacon cob with extra bacon and a white coffee £2.65. Can't go wrong.

Years ago Gregg's were good for those on a budget (sausage roll for 30p) buy for the past decade I've found Tesco meal deals to be far better vfm.

agreed, greggs is far too expensive now.

things i liked.

belgian bun - expensive now
sausage roll - expensive now
festive bake - absolute crap now
chicken bake - bland now
baguette sandwiches - tiny
cornish pasty - not as good.

nowadays the only thing i might pick up from them is a pepperoni 'pizza' slice. ridculously filling and easy to eat on the go. in a sad way it's the only thing that makes me feel like im in NY, eating a slice on the go. (i have never been to NY, but im really into the idea of its popularity)

The Cornish pasty tastes like it’s already been eaten, by a cat, thrown up, and chucked in the tumble dryer for 30 seconds

Greggs in Barnsley used to open into the early hours years ago (maybe 7-10 years back). Nothing new here.

There were always one or two open 10plus years ago in Newcastle city centre. I even remember them giving some sausage rolls away inside a night club once to promote one being open next door.

Some of them have higher prices IME.
The one in Dowgate Street (Cannon Street) charges £1.20 for a sausage roll, and £4 for a sandwich and drink "deal".
