We're eating some Quavers and I suddenly remembered a snack from the seventies that you could buy from country fairs etc

They were like a small orange plastic square that you dropped in hot oil and they puffed up almost instantly.

Mum *always* had to buy some on pain of a severe nagging...

They were so much tastier than they sound, but what on earth were they called???

They sound like a different shaped version of the crispy noodles you used to get with Vesta ready meals.

I think something like this:

(NB Used to love these as a kid...but have not tried the above or anything similar so may not be right biggrin)
