Single malt scotch - good alternatives to Jura £50?
Discussion
I'm after some quick advice - chap who works for me is leaving at the end of the week, and he likes his single malts, albeit he's not experienced that many yet.
His current favourite is Jura (not sure if 10/12 y.o. or one of the named ones, but a smooth, non-peaty whisky anyway). I've read very different reviews about Jura, and anyway I thought it'd be nice to get him something different to try - that way he's not spent his own money on a gamble.
Current recommendations I've received are:-
- Benromach (15y.o. or Triple-Distilled)
- Glenfiddich 15y.o.
- Glenmorangie (Lasanta or Quinta Ruban for something more characterful)
- Loch Lomond 12y.o.
- Yamazaki Distillers Reserve (as something different but very drinkable)
So...which of the above stand-out (for good or bad reasons)?
