Went to get an Angel Slice to go with my tea, and noticed “30% less sugar” on the packet. Opened it, and immediately obvious where the 30% reduction has come from: no white icing on top! Just a miserable squiggle of pink. IMO these are simply not Angel Slices. Gutted.

Appreciate the benefit of a healthy diet, but do the buyers of (tiny) iced cakes really now need protecting from themselves in this way?

In a few month's you will likely see a "new improved" version with a price premium where they have just reinstated the icing. smile

It’s says “100 calories per slice” wasn’t it obvious it was going to be fking miserable?

You’re telling me. My issue is this version is not now an Angel Slice at all. What next? Jaffa Cakes without the marmalade?

It would be funny if the packaging was updated to score out "exceedingly good" smile

Decades of lies about nutrition are slowly turning around to the real cause of a lot of our modern illnesses - sugar. But the calorie isn't dead yet, and it needs to die too. Meanwhile the anointed are once again going to "save us all", this time with calorie and sugar limits per snack. And this sort of thing is the result. fking idiocy.

It would be better for your health and your soul to have one proper fat-and-sugar loaded desert a month than a crappy low fat, low sugar, low calorie cardboard facsimile every day.

Not yet, just Angel and Chocolate Slices. But my concern is this could be the thin end of the [cake] wedge

Mr Kipling stuff has always been rank; way too sweet, I should imagine the "new improved" range will taste all fake now with that horrible underlying aftertaste of artificial sweetener, so still rank but just a different kind of rank.
