What’s the quality of the knifes like from this shop? They seem to be rediculously discounted (doubt its a REAL deal) but for the sale price are they decent?
I’m looking to get a new knife set for crimbo and don’t really want to spend more than £150 on a set. It’s a bloody minefield out there :/

They look very much like the cheap sets you see at markets. If you want a set at a reasonable price that are from a known supplier.

Indeed. If it sounds to good to be true.....You also dont need a huge set of knifes, unless you are doing it for show, better to get one or two really good knifes than six rubbish ones.
I have a Lion brand sabatier (sabatier is a non-protected title, so not a universal sign of quality) and its been great, had it 14 years now since I started uni and I really like it. Feels right to me, holds a nice edge.
We then also have pair of the Robert Welch knifes I bought the ms, last year there was a 'multipack' which in effect got you a 20cm cooks knife and 10cm knife for the same price as just the larger. I really like the smaller knife, feels and looks nice and holds and edge well. The larger ones handle feels too wide to me but the is as much personal preference I am sure.
We then have a £20 'judge' bread knife which has been fine, mainly buy the sliced seeded batch anyway!

Yep you don't need loads of knives, just a few good ones, I've 3 Robert Welch ones; Chef, Santoko and a paring knife (I can't remember the sizes), I've had them for a few years and have been very pleased with them, I also have a Robert Welch sharpener, each one was a present, given to me over a couple of years, bought individually they probably total just under £200.00, but you can usually get bundled offers.I've also got a Joseph Joseph carving fork and knife set which binds together and goes into a sheath type thing and a really cheap and crappy (but it does the job) bread knife.
All these offers that where allegedly £X and are now less than half the price, I never buy into.
I started with Zwilling chef and paring knives for £99 for the pair, plus a good steel for about £60, planning to add more to the set later. I haven't yet found the need to add anything else.
A good pair of kitchen shears is probably the only other tool I use a lot.
If I needed anything else, it would be for such infrequent use that I'd just get Victorinox with a plastic handle.

Yes, a good sharpener is important too.
Mines wasnt expensive,a two-stage diamond based one, similar to this 'Chefs Choice 464' if not the same one.

Thanks. I’ve just bought the minosharp sharpener so I’m sorted for that. Might try to sharpen our knives over the weekend if the tool arrives in time. Should get me by until the Boxing Day sales Mines wasnt expensive,a two-stage diamond based one, similar to this 'Chefs Choice 464' if not the same one.

Be aware that amongst the various models there are two different "types" of minosharp, one for Japanese knives, one for European.
Get them muddled and you will quickly knacker a knife.

I recently bought these from ProCook. Every knife you could ever need. Excellent quality and good value for money. Well within your budget.

Worth getting a steel too to hone the blades https://www.procook.co.uk/product/procook-gourmet-...
And maybe a whetstone for when they lose their edge and honing is no longer effective https://www.procook.co.uk/product/procook-double-s...
