Doughnut burger

I've seen them on the internet a few times and my daughter left a doughnut out for me tonight to gobble up.

after a few pints of cider ... lets get cooking !

So here is my version of the classic USA donut burger as they would call it.







I would tell you how it tastes but i had to take that with a telephoto lens, as recommended by David Attenborough, and I am currently too scared to go back into the kitchen

Simply too many patties.. should have stuck with just the one as a tasting test.
Otherwise doesnt look bad. Not really my thing mixing sweet with savory but if it float your boat then go for it

I'd have squished the patties and made two wide ones. But that's cos i like to eat burgers with my hands and not a knife&fork.
Not against a donut burger tho in principle.

I’ve done the donut burger at reds true bbq in Manc. Certainly was an experience, it wasn’t horrible but I wouldn’t repeat it.

It’ s normally a glazed doughnut, rather than sugared. I presume because the sugar granules would be a bit unpleasant texture wise.

Greene King’s Hungry Horse brand used to do a donut burger. Bun was replaced with 2 glazed donuts. Used to be really popular but they pulled it off the menu eventually.

I saw someone on the 'rate my plate' page use a hot cross bun instead of bread for a egg and bacon sarnie. i wonder how that will work with a burger.

personally im not a fan of sweet and savory. the bun should not have as much attention as the meat.

Also did it at Reds in Manc last year ... was not particularly inspiring, but then the same can be said of Reds in general ... all a bit meh
