I like a wee swirl of golden syrup in my porridge in the morning from one of these little plastic squirty bottles. Being a mean Scotsman environmentally conscious, I refill my bottle from a big catering container which is far cheaper better for the environment.
The problem is that the cheap stuff has a slightly thicker consistency than the easy squirt stuff. I've discovered that a quick 10 seconds in the microwave thins it for a few days, but it's a bit of a faff and it tends to crystallise towards the end of the bottle Does anyone here know, can I simply dilute it with a drop of water? Or some other solution?

It does dilute with water but not sure how long it would store for without some other effect.

If you can get to costco then they do a huge 7kg bottle of it for £8.99 which makes it way way cheaper than even own brand stuff.

I buy the golden syrup flavoured porridge sachets from Lidl, a box of eight for 72p.

They are never quite golden syrupy enough for me. :-)

I chuck in about 25gms of raisins before blitzing it in the microwave to give myself one of my five-a-day.

I put two big desert spoonfuls of golden syrup in my porridge. Put it neat in the bottom of the bowl and pour the hot porridge on top, then spoon through when you eat it.
