My neighbour has a case of cider that was produced in 2011, it's from a local French producer and doesn't contain sulphites.

I'm not keen on cider but it might make an interesting cooking ingredient - any thoughts?

It’s probably gone sour.

Depending on how it was made it might have kept fermenting as well so it could be like rocket fuel laugh

My late father was a keen home cider maker in the 1970s.

I recall him finding some bottles that were about 5 years old in the shed. They had turned completely clear and came out at about 80% spirit.

Sounds like I'll be sacking it off then. Or running the car on it.

Not sure how, cider yeast dies off at <20% ABV, and any alcohol would evaporate before the water content.

Unless your old man was making Calvados, you can't get to that alcohol content without distilling it, and that's not legal in the UK unless you've a licence.
