Anyone reuse teabags?
Discussion
I don’t, and wouldn’t normally. But since being at home more (current events) I’m drinking many more cups of tea, and also concerned about running out! It seems wasteful with a quick dunk & it’s chucked out.
But they always look a bit manky when they dry out (I put them in a pot before throwing away so I don’t get the bin all wet). But maybe I should. Or does all the flavour go.
Anyone do it? (No, I won’t be buying loose tea before someone suggests it)

Some are designed to be that way - green tea for example. Some of the brands of sencha, such as Yamamoto do actually say each bag can be used three times, and the 'sushi bar' tea bags are designed to be left in the cup and have the hot water topped up (note not boiling). Using 80/85 degree water also is part of the reason behind this ability I assume.
Shouldn't be an issue if you're not a squeezer!
On the second dunk, make sure you heat the mug first and that the water is as hot as you can get it, I hold the "off button" down for an extra few seconds, the water always "boils" more rapidly making me think it turns off before boiling temp is reached anyway. You'll need to squeeze on the second dunk!

king disgusting habit, I dont drink tea but i am regarded as a talented tea maker. My secrets are too leave the bag to steep for a couple of minutes and to squeeze the life out of the bag before removing. Seems simple to me but I can only assume people are accustomed to drinking shoddily made tea. If you enjoy drinking tea why would you scrimp on having a decent cup of it?

As a drinker of weak tea, yes I re-use, however my ritual involves a small metal pot.
Pour enough hot water for a mug into pot.
After waiting the exact time it takes to replace the kettle (near immediately), pick up & pour tea.
The only essential to this is the pot must be emptied into mug completely each time.
This avoids visibly unsightly teabags & dirty teaspoons
ETA 3-4 uses!

Just checked with my butler, he says he wouldn't entertain such a ghastly idea. Frightful.
They wouldn’t re-use for you to ensure there was some life left in the for them, tea used to be kept under lock & key by the lady of the house, (staff re-used the leaves later)Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
