Something sensible, our local butcher has had to close for this duration and that leaves the supermarkets as an option. Any good online butchers people know of?

I am finding a few but not having any provenance of quality and timely supply.

I use this lot

https://thegingerpig.co.uk/

Until now I've always gone to their shops, but I placed an order on Sunday for on line delivery. Earliest slot was end of April.

Quality of their stuff is excellent as reflected in the prices (they're a supplier to the Hawksmoor restaurants)

Have a look at Field and Flower although I expect they'll be busy.

Thanks. Looks a good but a tad steeper than I was expecting. Will book mark.

Cheers. Looks good that closer to the wallet happiness. Meat packs look handy, one hit freeze most of it.

Anyone used Great British Meat co.?

I regulary order from musclefoods - mostly chicken, sausages and burgers. The quality is incredible and a big step up from the 'normal' shops, the chicken in particular is very high quality. Pricewise its very good, especially for the quality - with offers 5kilo of chicken can sometimes be got for £19 (though more often 2.5kg at that price). Compare that with the greatbritishmeat site who have it for £42.50.

BTW, I'm not linked with them in any way, just a customer for 1-2 years every month or two.

I have been using these...
https://www.hooknblock.co.uk/

Their prices have increased slightly since the Corvid goings on, but then so have a lot of food places due to extra online orders/deliveries etc

Of no help to you, but I'm surprised by this, a couple of butchers local to me appear to be busier than usual. One in particular has queues outside for most of the day.

They are inside an indoor market controlled by the council and the council cannot do the distance thing (or will not), most of the stalls had to close as they are non essential. Town is mostly the usual charity and vaping shops. Such a pity as the veg and deli also supplied all my other fresh food including cheese and butter from the local farms (home cooked ham for example, no straw needed to eat it), they are shut as well. Been a customer there for yonks.

On the odd occasion we have bought from the supermarkets, not overly impressed, this is why the ask here. Ocado have no slots as I am a new customer to see what theirs is like so looking for options.

That's a shame, hopefully they & the others can come back after this.
Local market to me tried to stay open & tried a one way system, but had to close.
No chance of them doing delivery, or collection?

No, unfortunately. I will be back there when they open, I hope the rest of the punters are as well. About the best pork sausages as well. Though the best non pork I ever tried were wild boar from a butcher in Thame and Toulouse form one in Nuneaton.

Bob's Family Butcher. Based in Hatfield.

Used them for all bulk smoking cuts a number of times, be it large packer briskets, Boston butts etc. Shipped from Hatfield to sunny Aberdeen.

Best to call and discuss

Yep. Used them for a BBQ meat pack, remember them as fairly decent and well-priced.

Also used Musclefood, decent value for money.

Ginger Pig is good, but pricey. Also used Turner and George - again good, but on the costlier side.

If you're looking for meat that is a slight cut above the supermarket, I'd probably say Great British Meat.

I didn't find Musclefood to be as amazing as the other poster mentioned, but haven't used them in a while so quality might have increased (not that there was anything wrong with it - just thought it was like decent supermarket stuff, but cheaper).

You might want to check their FB page. Problems with delivery dates for all orders placed in the last 24 hours. Basically the website accepted delivery dates that they cannot meet. They are rescheduling them.

@rsebiscuits. I don't do FB.

Freezer still stocked and can accept a delay, will beam them an ask. Communication is always best even for issues and will go elsewhere if this does not get comms in a timely manner.

Edit. Fudgemonkeys. Order delivery date is 16th, it is in the mail. Eyes saw Thursday on the order page and said, OK, tomorrow. Hoisted by my own petard.

Shall leave the order in.

If you're near Watford, the main local butchers, Gibsons, now are doing delivery.

Personally I've been using Donald Russell on and off for years - tending to only buy items in the sale. I do really like their steaks and burgers though their haggis was awful.
