I think the Govt coffers are going to be ok!
Discussion
I've noticed threads over the past week to ten days highlighting fuel price drops/drops on fuel duty and now many indicating that they've SORN'ed one or more of their vehicles. But I reckon their coffers are going to be ok! How do I know? Well... if your household is like mine the fuel usage/cost has went down significantly but the alcohol consumption has 'exploded'! Not having to drive to work/do school runs has allowed a glass of wine or two at/after dinner when we would abstain on school nights! So much for saving cash!
Which is why on day 1 of the lockdown in NZ I distilled off 3 litres of 100% alcohol. Fortunately I had the 6 kilos of sugar required already in stock.
I think NZ is the only country where home distillation is fully legal - costs around a pound a bottle, better than cheap gin at 15 quid a bottle.
Plenty of stills available on aliexpress. Is owning one illegal in the UK, or just using it?

Brewing/distilling is legal as far as I know, in the UK, the issue is selling it - then you've got the inland revenue knocking on the doorI think NZ is the only country where home distillation is fully legal - costs around a pound a bottle, better than cheap gin at 15 quid a bottle.
