Looking for my MIL, self isolating and doesn't cook from scratch anymore.

She always used to come back with a selection of M&S or Waitrose stuff, bung in the freezer jobs a goodun. Not as easy now, she hates change and reluctant to try new brands.

My mum used to rate Wiltshire farm foods, but probably 10yrs ago. Any other good options?

MrsC's elderly father lives 80 miles from us. she was looking at somewhere called Oakhouse Foods yesterday, they deliver frozen meals in various sizes. Don't know what the food is like but she's having some delivered to him today. Oakhouse HQ is in Wiltshire but they are delivering in Suffolk so I guess they cover a fair range of areas?

Incidentally he was also reluctant to try them, he's a Sainsburys through-and-through man, but she eventually convinced him to give it a go.

Thx, I've heard of oakhouse too. Be interested to know how they get on.

What about Morrison's food boxes?

They do more than just boxes of raw ingredients, there's ready made meals too. I suppose it depends on whether she would need 8 meals at a time, though?

Says it's available for people self-isolating.

They have concessions in a bunch of shops - there's a map on the site. I know our local high-end farm shop has them (at least in 'normal' times).

FIL has Wiltshire Farm Foods and raves about them. But I know a lady friend of his tried them and didn't like them at all.

It's a bit confusing, re definition of "at risk" vs "self isolating" I'll give them a call to clarify. The stuff does look tasty.

It's very confusing!

We're self isolating due to age (I'm 70) and underlying health conditions( O/H has diabetes, I have heart problems) but we're not in the high risk group that qualifies for help, we're just in the pool of around six million who seem to be expected to to rely on the help of friends, family and neighbours.

We're not complaining as we can manage OK but there must be many who are under the radar and struggling to cope - but that's a discussion for elsewhere.

Wiltshire Farm Foods are part of Appetito which delivers meals-on-wheels and to care home, hospital and so on. I expect (hope) the menus are different

We had an email from Côte Restaurants, we used to use Côte regularly prior to this recent unpleasantness, and my wife had her 60th at a Côte restaurant.
They do prepared meals, ready to cook or freeze for later, at what we consider to be good prices.
We ordered about £90 worth, and we have plenty left in the fridge and freezer, maybe ten days after delivery.

My mum uses parsleybox. With shielding and temporary restricted mobility (hip replacement) she finds it a boon to not have to do the preparation part of cooking every time. Vac packed means long life. She has nothing but praise for them.

Current supply of meals in freezer dangerously low.

Found a local garden centre with a cookfood.net concession so we'll try that.
