Good choice.

Other decent options for me would be:

Negroni
Martini
Old fashioned
Breakfast martini

Sounds nice Johnny, even I, a confirmed vodka drinker am attracted to the sound of that.
One that my wife was turned on to in Manhattan one night in the nineties, was a Melon Ball.
2 ounces of Midori, (melon liqueur), 1 ounce vodka, (melon flavoured if you like), 1 ounce freshly squeezed orange juice, garnish with melon balls, (melon fruit flesh scooped out).

Negroni is a cocktail, Peroni is a budweiser/heineken kind of beer once purchased over here, easy mistake I suppose.

This man speaks the truth. Keep it sharp - an overly sweet mojito is a crime.

Thanks for your efforts oddman.

Not a cocktail sort of bloke but this and a Cuba Libre(a?) do hit the mark.

I have to be honest: I'm not a fan of cocktails containing vermouth. Unless it is a very minor component, the whole thing just ends up tasting of vermouth.

My ex wife’s brother turned me on to something similar to that, before I got married, when I was too young and inexperienced to argue about it.
He was in the Merchant Navy, maybe ten years older than my nineteen years, and he was the last of her three brothers that I was introduced to.
When he was ashore, we’d go to The Gregorian Arms, corner of St. James Rd and Jamaica Rd. Bermondsey.
He’d ask for two gin and martinis, and it was always just the red, or Rosso martini, never the white, which I always thought of as vermouth.
We’d chug half a dozen each of these, before making our way to The Lilliput Hall, Old Jamaica Road, where we’d meet my girlfriend and one or two of her cousins, and have a few more.
We always managed to make it home safely, but that was Bermondsey in 1959-1961.

Doing my bit both as consumer and brand ambassador for my friends sustainable gin company called www.PentlandHillsGin.com

Delivered by the postie, no plastics, reuse the bottle, send back for a (discounted) refill. Epic.

Makes really good gin martinis, and they've done a recipe for a DoggyJito (gin based mojito), plus a hot chocolate based winter warmer.

Why can't it be a pint of negroni? He might be a generous dude.
