Any of you have certain chocolate that you like over the usual generic Cadburys...

Cadbury is my least favourite. Lindt and galaxy are my choice.

Seeing that brings a couple of questions to mind..
A: Is their shop in Winchester open at present?
B: If so would travelling a mere six or seven miles to get there be classed as essential travel?

I imagine their Winchester store is closed. If you’re local, you’ll find it in the new Co-Op in Abbottswood (near Romsey) and possibly other stores..

Ritter Sport is great. Plus the factory is only a 20 minute drive from my house and they have an amazing factory shop.

We allow ourselves a square each of Lindt caramel + salt, or just salt every night.

I don't have a picture of it but Aldi do a dark chocolate with sour chilli cherry filling and it is gorgeous. It looks like a single bar but its 5 individual bars when you get the wrapper off making it easier to limit yourself smile

For those within reasonable distance.

This chap turns out the best chocolate I have ever had, by a country mile! For those who view Hotel Chocoalate as a go too, will never view HC the same again after trying Jan's offerings.

I do miss a Spira, that was back when Cadbury was a top notch chocolate

These days I'm more of a Lindt man, in particular they've brought out the mint Lindt which is impossible to put down...

and when my toddlers not watching, I'll sneak a bit of the Kinder too

You can’t really compare small batch chocolate making like that with any kind of factory produced chocolate though.

Montezuma is lovely but I've always felt that Hotel Chocolat is really over-priced for what seems, to me, to just be only marginally nicer than your standard Cadbury/Nestle/Mars stuff.

My default choice is anything seashell-shaped and praline. The Guylain stuff is great but Aldi/Lidl (can never remember which is which) do their own version which is half the price of Guylain and 95% as nice. Has to be an occasional treat though as I can nail a whole box in about 20 minutes.

Aren't they both similar? High street locations selling mostly to the gift market.

Hotel Chocolat is more polished in their packaging and presentation, but Montezuma is too generic to compare to the nearest indie chocolatier shop.

I think the chocolate batons that hotel chocolat makes are really good. All their other stuff you can buy very cheap from the factory shop if you’re around Cambridge. They do big bags of Mis shapes like Thornton’s used to do

Kinnerton's dairy free dark chocolate from Sainsbury's was the best to my palate, but the firm has been bought out and now the product is called NOMO and is no longer available from Sainsbury's frown
