I've noticed that the supermarkets are running really low on spices, in fact it's getting a bit like the shortage of toilette paper when all this Covid kicked off.

Anyone else struggling? I've been trying to get hold of Green Cardamons for the last 3 weeks now.

yeah, curry leaves was a nuisance too. Just seen my ocado order substituted kashmiri chilis for barts chilli powder.

With all of india on lockdown it will be a nuisance.

Fortunately london has a lot of arab/indian stores so the majority of it is really easy to get. Its the fresher stuff thats harder.

lack of spices are probably due to ramadan coming up.

back when people were panic buying the spices and pulses were always in short supply. world food section of my local asda was always striped bare. similar thing is happening now...however they don't seem to notice that there's tons more in the seasonal/overflow isle (where things like easter eggs are kept).

today i wanted some nonshim spicy ramyun..but it was the only one that was completely sold out of everything else there.

If you've got any in your area then try small Indian/Ethnic shops. Was in my local one today buying milk but their shelves were fully stocked with every kind of dried spice you could think of in packets from 50g up to 5kg! The prices are way better too.
