First post-pandemic meal out - where are you going?
Discussion
Having a couple of young kids now, my wife and I don't eat out as much as we used to and when we do, it tends to be chain places with stuff the kids will eat (mainly Prezzo and Dim T which are local to us). But having absolutely no opportunity to go out anywhere at the moment and as a reward for having not killed either of our children so far, we've said that we'll treat ourselves to a really good meal out once the pandemic is over and we can go somewhere for a meal without waiters in facemasks or plastic screens between tables.
Current contenders are The Savoy Grill (first fancy place we ever went to back in the mid-2000s when it had just reopened as part of the Ramsay empire and was under Marcus Wareing), The Waterside Inn (I proposed and we also celebrated my wife's 30th there) or perhaps somewhere we've not been before but wanted to, like Le Manoir. Basically, I just want to be spoiled rotten and eat some food that is way beyond anything I can knock up in the kitchen.
So come on, where are you going to go and why?

Nowhere for a long while really.
But eventually it will have to be somewhere nice for something japanese. I only really eat out in places now (i.e. nice & special places) where it's not viable for me to prepare the food on a whim (like a ramen stock!) or requires another level of skill - like sushi.
I just want to have a nice cold pint with friends!

Was wondering about this the other day. Ive never really bought into the idea of supporting local businesses but will prioritise spending on local resraurants and non chain bars when we are free of lockdown.
Our local italian place, ran by the nicest family you will ever meet, prepared a s
t ton of free meals for the local elderly and vulnerable groups during lockdown so will repay that kindness with increased visits.
As much as my head says "big mac and 20 nuggets is the obvious answer here you dipstick", it will be the italian, which is pricey but worth it, even more so now.

I'll be going to our favourite local Italian, family ran place and everything made fresh.
They never did takeaway or delivery pre covid but reopened and put a call out a Facebook for customers to order and keep them afloat, when we called to order them seemed genuinely happy for the call.
The food is great as takeway but to me alot of a meal out for me is the experience so first opportunity we get I'll be back their in my favourite seat by the window with an ice cold lager and red hot calzone

A full day of eating in London:
Breakfast: Christophers [French Toast]
Coffee: Kaffiene [Flat White]
Lunch: Circolo Poplare [Pizza]
Break: Dominque Ansell [Coffee and a Cronut]
Dinner: Trishna
That's a combination of the food I've been craving.
I’m liking your thinking on the full day approach :goesbacktothedrawingboard:Breakfast: Christophers [French Toast]

The Lecture Room at Sketch if you can get in is IMHO the best at the moment. For me I never really crave high end food, love it but, prefer things less formal, so my first places:
Baffled Coffee in Southsea for a Baffled Breakfast Stack (without frittata) or Ruben depending on time of day

Sunday Lunch at the Sheppy in Godney, my dad lives in Pembrokeshire so good mid point meet.

I have looked at Sketch before but not been so thanks for the reminder. I live between Southampton and Portsmouth too so will definitely check out Baffled Coffee. Not heard of them before. For me I never really crave high end food, love it but, prefer things less formal, so my first places:
