Does anyone here find themselves ordering more exotic meats from online butchers?

MY local butchers aren't that great, one has sold me rump as rib eye at least twice and the others rib eye is always tough (fillet and other stuff ok) and the supermarkets round here aren't doing any meat counter stuff so have to get it off the shelf and its always cut so bloody thin.

i have just ordered the australian wagyu and argentine fillet from https://www.tomhixson.co.uk a lot of it is priced reasonablely too (thats if its any good).

I reckon a lot of these butchers are struggling as no restaurants at the moment, im getting loads of butchers ads on facebook, and this one sells in much larger sizes than your average butcher.

Hoping its as good as the reviews and was wondering who else does this?

I’ve ordered from the same supplier when the lock-down started and my wife couldn’t buy anything because of the panic buying that was happening. Quality was great. Would certainly buy from them again.

I was abroad with work (still stuck out of country) and she couldn’t deal with the chaos in the supermarkets and local shops. Have to admit it made me very happy knowing I could still sort out a few things in my absence!

I've been using these guys for years -

https://www.stiltonbutchers.co.uk

They did some more exotic stuff for a while, but less so these days - but the quality of what they do is very good.

I have brought from the Tom Hixston halal range and I can't fault it at all. I'll be using their services again in the future

I’ve been using Tom Hixson quite a bit during lockdown and have been very impressed. Steak, ribs, burgers all excellent. Will continue to use them.

The steaks turned up today as promised, nice and chilled, very well packaged.

Australian wagyu ribeye looks good enough, no where near as good looking as proper japanese stuff but still bloody good and as its significantly cheaper its to be expected. 2kg ordered 2.4 arrived. £33 per steak is pretty rich but if it tastes good.....

fillet again looks good enough, bit fatty but thats ok with me, 1.8 kgs ordered 2.2 turned up. Remarkable value at £60 for a whole fillet.

looking forward to eating it, especially the rib eye!

I have used both TomHixson and Farmison in the past; both superb and reasonable. Hixson tends to be when I want to buy larger quantities.

I've used https://www.campbellsmeat.com/ many times as I love their Haggis and other Scottish stuff. Sign up to their news letters and can get some cracking deals for breakfast boxes, meat boxes BBQ packs etc.

Today I have a delivery from https://www.wildandgame.co.uk/shop/ Never tried them so just an impulse buy as I fancied their pigeon and grouse breasts. various game pies and ready meals also arriving - bit of a lucky dip really.

Think it's all frozen but we'd have to freeze a lot of it anyway..

Product Total
Vacuum Pack of 4 Pheasant Breasts × 1 £6.89
Vacuum Pack of 4 Grouse Breasts × 1 £12.50
Country Cottage Square Pie × 2 £6.98

Pheasant Tikka Masala 350g × 1 £5.29
Pheasant Tandoori 700g × 1 £7.59

Have struggled locally. Even going a bit further afield to a specialist I was sold what I believe to be Spanish import rather than the locally reared label (and equivalent price) they stuck on the outside.

Tried an online order for the first time last week an got messed around.
Going to give it one more try with Jon Davidsons. Seems to have a good rep.
