For the last couple of months it's seemed you can go into almost any supermarket and if you're lucky find a steak with exquisite levels of marbelling that you would have had to go to a decent butcher to get before. Has anyone else noticed this, and is this just because of corona shutting down restaurants or some other reason?

? Restaurants not placing usual orders - sounds plausible.

TBH I've not noticed it - use Morrisons, which despite undoubtedly judged as 'council' on here, is pretty decent for meat on a culinary, traceability and welfare point of view

We have yes. We usually buy from the local butcher or Aldi but over the last few months have shopped around.

The Aldi 28 day aged steaks are as good as ever for £3.79

We had some Tesco’s ones the other day that were nearly as good (Bit thinner and not as aged) but still better than I remember them being.

But the winner was 2 sirloins for £8 in the coop. Barbequed, they were top notch.

I can guarantee no supermarket has changed heir supply chain. It;s just luck finding better steaks in the pile.

So no, not seen any difference between supermarket, Morrisons, Aldi or Sainburys or from two different catering suppliers with dedicated butcheries and their own farms.
