Onion bhaji - hot air fryer ?
Discussion
My wife has a marked reluctance to have anything to do with fried food and in consequence we have no deep frying gear nor the oil to pour in it. However I long for a homemade onion bhaji. Does anybody have any tips ? I appreciate that a hot air fryer is more of a hot air oven but it seems the best way to go
Big ol' pan of oil (The litre bottles of rape seed oil work well), a sugar thermometre to keep an eye on temps and you're away!
My girlfriend was sceptical the first time I deep fried anything but I started with "Healthy" falafel to get her on board and have now progressed to full on fish and chips
Worth reading up on deep frying as it can be healthier than you think with clean oil, the right temperatures and correct draining once you remove stuff from the pan
Just make sure your oil is only a third of the way up the pan, things like bahjis with lots of surface area make lots of bubbles and it can rise up quickly
