Best pub/burger food in bowness..

Misto was heaving this evening as we drove past. Had a quick pint in the Ambleside inn (used to be the queens hotel) and the burgers, fish & chips and pies they were sending out looked the business. Quite nice inside too, although if you sit between the back and front doors, it could be chilly if the table full of coat wearing diners next to us were anything to go by.
We went for fish and chips from the little chippy in Windermere the other night. It’s been a while since I’ve been to Windermere, and I was really surprised how nice it is now. Lots of places really look like they’re making the effort. I’ve not been anywhere other than the chippy there, but everywhere looks like it’s upped their game and might be worth a visit. My mum recommends cafe italia if you fancy Italian.
Not the Windermere I remember from my childhood.
If you’re having a ride out, loads of people still reckon the drunken duck is worth a go.

Yes, I agree about Windermere. We had a couple of visits to Grasmere, that’s nicer than I remember also!We went for fish and chips from the little chippy in Windermere the other night. Agree with some of the other comments about Windermere. Had a week there last summer and was really impressed. Decades since I’d last been there. Went to probably the same fish&chip shop mentioned here and it was excellent. Plenty of visits to the Crafty Baa (free mini pork pie!).
Found it was generally much quieter than Bowness which was packed with tourists. Was as if they couldn’t be bothered to wander as far as Windermere.
Had some excellent beer and reasonable food in The Angel Inn - lot better than I was expecting tbh.

I’ve heard The Angel Inn is good. We were staying at The Langdale so stayed local for meals.Found it was generally much quieter than Bowness which was packed with tourists. Was as if they couldn’t be bothered to wander as far as Windermere.
