Hi Folks
I have done a search on PH and the definitive coffee machine thread finished in 2014!

I want a machine like they used to sell where I can put my freshly ground coffee in the top- a metal filter so I don’t have to bother with paper filter. But I do not want auto shut off. I know the auto shut off came in with eu regs to save on electricity etc but I want one I can just have a hot cup of coffee from throughout the day. I know this might offend the coffee purists.
I have googled this but it still comes up with auto shut off machines. I thought of those in cafes where they have a jug of coffee that is always off but I cannot seem to find ones like this to buy.

Anyone have any idea where I can find one as my present on is on its last legs.

Apologies, the specs say “Auto off: no”, but the reviews say it does switch off after 40 minutes.

This one has an insulated jug, which may be the best/only option now available. I know it’s cheaper elsewhere (GF bought one and is happy with it, I think from Amazon):

Alas the ones in basic cafes have paper filters. Fairly painless to change them mind. They are definitely always on. Found that out the hard way when the one I have at work was left on by a colleague overnight. The smell the next morning really wasn’t pleasant.

We have one of these - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bravilor-Bonamat-Filter-C... which does the job for generic coffee in an office where most people are happy with anything including instant

Looks quite good but is out of stock at the moment. Will keep checking to see if it comes back.

Yeah I found that with a lot that I looked at. The jug one looks interesting. Thanks for that.

Would this work

Or you could go for an industrial model that will stay hot all day or a hot plate.

A very pricey espresso machine isn’t what the OP was after...

The problem with the always-on drop coffee machines (very common in offices here in the US) is the hot pad burns the crap out of the coffee after about an hour, its really gross. I would go insulated...or just reheat in a microwave quickly from room temp?

Funnily enough I looked in to this recently, and I too wanted a proper ‘keep warm for hours’ type filter coffee machine.
None of this ‘keep warm but actually turn off after 20 mins’ nonsense.

The best I came up with was buying a proper industrial machine, which are actually really well priced considering they are super heavy duty and designed to last years of use.

Try looking at machines made by Buffalo: https://www.nisbets.co.uk/buffalo-filter-coffee-ma...

That looks good. I shall investigate these further. Thanks a lot.

I'd highly recommend this Melitta machine. The insulated jug is far better than the glass jug stewing on a hotplate type setups. I stick it on at about 7am and the coffee is still warm enough and drinkable by lunchtime.
