I had lamb roasting joint on the shopping list today but have ended up with a rolled lamb breast as I didn’t do the shopping. What should I do with it bar throw it in the bin? I’m thinking slow cook with that much fat. Any suggestions?

Rolled breast of lamb and I instantly think of Simon Hopkinson’s recipes.
His cookbook “Roast chicken and other stories” is a classic.
This one was the first I found:

Colour it in a hot pan then slowly braise but don't expect too much from it.

One of our favourite meals - unroll it, cover in garlic powder and chinese five spice and then roast on a wire rack in the oven on 150ish for 3-4hrs until it's gone crispy, cut that into strips and have with egg-fried-rice or wrap in lettuce leaves, just as good as any chinese takeaway lick

This was the last time I used lamb breast. Basically rolled up with lots of spices, nuts and fruit then braised with a tagine type sauce. Was okay but not worth the time and effort or cost which is what I was looking to reduce for school lunches.

To be honest i think a lot of school kids would push that to one side, i would happily polish it off though

Well, wouldn't be serving it quite like that but the idea of a rolled lamb breast in a sauce with cous cous was the plan. In the end the cost was no less than doing similar but with lamb koftas which is what they ended up with.

Didn't this used to be a cheaper cut of lamb? Sainsbury's want £7 for one.

I've always fancied breast of lamb St Menehould, but never got round to it.
