Christmas Wine – Majestic v online v supermarkets.
Discussion
I’m starting to build up my Christmas wine stockpile, got a good set of decent wine but after another load of “cheap” wine, the stuff you open when your already a few bottles down, personally I open the good stuff early, cheaper stuff later.
My question is, for a set amount, say £80-£100ish for a mix case of 12, are you better off going to Majestic, Naked, laithwaites, Sainsbury buy 6 for 25% off or any other supermarket offer?
Any ideas?

So walk in and pick up 12 bottles around £6 to £9 each?
At that price range you’re in the sweet spot where spending at the upper end can mean a significantly better wine than at the lower end. Here’s where the money goes: https://www.bibendum-wine.co.uk/news-stories/artic... (caveat: there’s no point spending more if you prefer the cheaper one!)Personally I’d head to a small independent wine merchant in preference to any of the supermarkets and see what they’d suggest.
We use Majestic and had a delivery of 24 a few days ago. ended up with a £10 average bottle price.
I prefer to wander round tbh and I find it easier to spend more on average in store for some reason, but the delivery experience was OK, they arrived via courier in about 5 days.
I was a bit surprised as to why they don't deliver from the local store (which is only 2 miles away). Seems like an opportunity missed for them tbh,
I've used a few other onlines in the past, naked, virgin wines etc but they always seem to end up with me annoyed at needing to cancel after the first order. I like that with majestic, it is just a regular shopping experience.

Sainsburys just started the 25% off again, I will be popping in and loading up. I'm fine with the £5-£8 bottles, before discount. ~£50 for 12.
I was using waitrose cellar before, as it was delivery, but a bit more expensive. Majestic is an option, but I don't know if I'll like them...

They do deliver from our local store (Leamington Spa). We're loyal to Majestic because their staff are generally knowledgeable, and they've never steered us wrong. They've given us free glass hire when we've had big parties, and they would take back unopened bottles. I don't know if they still do, because if we over-order, we just keep the excess.
They're not great for French wines, IMO, but we buy direct from three vineyards in France anyway.
I recollected a similar (sort of) thread on here a while ago - so set out to find it. Didn't realise it was started over 2 years ago

If some of those wines are still available, it might give some ideas....

Some good offers on at Avery's of Bristol.
I like the fact that it's easy to go straight to the region you want. The Majestic website gives me a migraine.
