Had some today on a cheese salad roll. First time I’ve had it in years, much to the disgust to my Dutch (and thus mayonnaise worshipping) wife.

The forgotten love child of condiments?

Never forgotten, the very thought - cheese & onion sandwiches get smothered in it, it gets dolloped on all manner of cold meats, used as a dip with crisps and crackers, with fish fingers, the list goes on and on.

That said, one foodstuff which never sees salad cream is salad itself

Have to agree. Salad isn’t salad without salad cream, great on chicken salad sandwiches.
Lidl’s own isn’t bad

Every couple of years I buy a bottle out of fond memories and a desire to regain them and each time I regret it. Not sure if the flavour was changed over time, which could be the reason why, as I'd say the flavour is lighter than I remember.

Reminds me of a Humphrey Lyttelton line "She'd run out of mayonnaise, so she had to palm them off with salad cream" !

(Or something like that).

It has the ability to make salad edible, and cheese & tom sarnies amazing. Nice mixed with tuna in a sarnie too.

Remember having fish fingers with a spread of salad cream rolled up in a slice of Mothers Pride when I was a nipper, yum!

Love it on a cheese and tom sarnie with black pepper. It’s one of the few condiments where cheaper is usually better I think. I wouldn’t entertain the idea of Aldi ketchup but salad cream is fine.

Seafood sauce with just salad cream and tomato sauce is good. Epic when sprinkled when cayenne pepper

Morrisons do a premixed egg salad cream in a pot, my father is a big fan.

My chefy OH thinks salad cream is a crime against God, which naturally gives me a certain fondness for it.

I bloody love salad cream but I’ve always felt it was looked down on, inferior to Mayo.
I was a strange child in liking pickled onions from a young age, along with pickled red cabbage, beetroot - it’s the vinegar thing.

On pizza, Hawaiian or pepperoni, and many other things.

War Mayonnaise.

It should have vanished along with ration cards.
