Somewhere to eat in Exeter?

I'm in Exeter for work on Sunday and looking for somewhere good to eat.
I'm into everything pretty much and don't want to gi anywhere near a chain so would like to support something small and local. Love streetfood but I'm open to it all, greasy spoons or nice cafes.

Margoux does a nice Sunday lunch in the city centre - new ish, slightly trendy restaurant, good food.

The Fat Pig is very good too in my experience. Gastro pub I think you’d call it.

Circa is also great. Steak/seafood type place, really good, in fact I’ve not been for a while and you’ve got me thinking about it now! I’m going to try get along this week.


That’s my top 3 in no order, in the city centre I think. Otherwise; Tyepyedong is great Asian food but very casual. Absurd Bird isn’t bad but it’s a chain/bigger operation.

Oh, Harry’s! On Longbrook street, not been for a while but it is good too.

This Moroccan used to be epic when I lived in Topsham. Great tagines and you can have a bang on a sheesha pipe if that’s your thing.
It was a long ago but it must be half decent if it’s still going

Was a big fan of the Rendezvous wine bar when I lived there.
