I love almost any alcohol, particularly craft beer, some ales, lager and red wine.

Is there any wine that you guys like from the Supermarkets? - Talking about those less than around £10, or those which you consider a bit of a bargain?

I've not tried it yet but I have picked up the following wines for around £8-9 each. I usually go for those which are reduced to about £6 but thought I'd try some of these better rated ones.

Not tried them yet as I'm trying to go sober for Jan/Feb to lose a bit of weight. These were from Tesco btw.

Any other tips?

Co-op own brand fairtrade Bonarda-Malbec for me, £5.65. No, I'd never heard of it either, but I tried it when it was on offer and now I go back to it. Benefits from about 2 degrees below room temprature, and pour it an hour before you want to drink it.

Lidl do a pretty good Chianti Riserva for 6quid.

Mind you, I also like the 5quid clarets from Sainsbury and Tesco smile

Malbec seems really popular at the moment. Some good suggestions for Co-Op wine, will head their tomorrow or whenever I next need some groceries.

Luckily near an Aldi too so I will keep an eye out for that Zinfandel

Thanks!

Not all Co-op stores stock it but if you can find one that does this is really good for the price, think it's about £8.

Most supermarkets should have this for about £9

Get the Vivino app for your phone, very handy. You take a photo of a label and it searches the database to bring up ratings and reviews.

Aldi have a Rioja Grand Reserva for £6 - blue label on the back!

Also a Valpollicella for around the same.

If you like that - Chapel Down are currently selling 6 bottles of their UK Bacchus for £10 each.

I like picpoul de pinet for white. Usually £6-£8 a bottle
Montepulciano is nice for a red too at £5-£8

Malbec is nice but not as drinkable as the monte for me.

I love red wine. Took me years to discover this but over the last 10 years I've tried to make up for it through consumption.

Tried plenty and found I prefer the lighter smoother wines and now only buy French as I find others too harsh.

This has gradually narrowed to a preference for Beaujolis and oddly the below really really cheap one is my favourite.

I cant believe it is any good, surely it must be rubbish, but having tried most things under £20 a bottle in the French section I keep going back to it.

Would be interested in opinions on what I should be trying instead. I must be missing something, perhaps tastebuds!

One of the few wines that are cheaper in the US than the UK. I used to buy it in our local burger place for about $10. Not terrible and does have the added gimmick/bonus of an augmented reality label.
