So all you pub dwellers out there, your beer consumption will have seriously decreased in the current lockdown with pub closures... as a result some of you previous daily beer consumers must be experiencing a significant reduction in daily calorie intake, and maybe a corresponding weight loss... c’mon fat boys let’s hear it biggrin

Don’t supermarkets sell beer? Our local brewery delivers our 9 pint polypin/beer in a box. every Friday evening. Order on Facebook.

I'm almost exclusively a beer/lager drinker in pubs, but since they all closed I've generally been drinking wine at home which has helped me lose a little winter plumage.

However a few bottles of beer with the miniature billiards table on a Saturday night has been proving a great laugh.

My everyday lockdown beer has become Jaipur from Morrisons - 2 x 4 can packs for a tenner.

It's nothing flash but it's a decent pale ale with a bit more complexity and depth to some of these extreme highly hopped hipster type pale ales.

I have to confess that I drink each day now, something I never did pre lockdown and have put on a few pounds as a result.

I'm probably drinking a little more now. Wather than 2-3 pints with a mate in a nice pub once a fortnight, I'm just having supermarket beer most nights (just one, I'm not drinking myself into oblivion)

I'm drinking far more beer then I was when the pubs were open. Not just supermarkets but lots of breweries have started doing mail order, we've had deliveries from several different breweries as well as a mixed case from Beer In A Box. We also discovered a local win shop that delivers within a couple of hours of placing an order if we time it right, as the guy there recognised our name from a tasting night we did before lockdown and drops off our order on the way home.

Why would beer consumtion have reduced?
I heard Greene kings online shop for instance had its best ever month for sales last month.
People can afford more beer as a pint is about £1 -£2 in the house and >£3 -£10 in pubs.

I've been drinking more in lockdown, around half the week now.

Some sobering stats showing alcohol related deaths have spiked during lockdown

Little beer but plenty of vin rouge; a year ago I'd just started buying from The Wine Society to eke out the supplies from the annual pilgrimage to France and then suddenly we could only purchase in case quantities.... sneaky buggers! wink

Still, compared to our barber who confessed to doing four or five bottles a day during lockdown our four or five a week seems more restrained. smile

Cider, I’ll drink any of them, not fussy at all. I was drinking 4 cans a night during the week and double that on a Friday/Sat but quit on Jan 1st.

I’ve promised I won’t drink again until we are out of lockdown and I can walk to my local.

Oh ho!

Talk of beery deliveries, a box from Brewdog just turned up for the missus. Given I am not that edumacated when it comes to ale type things but I do like a nice IPA, who would be good to get beer delivered from?
