Polish Shop Finds
Discussion
Over the last few years plenty of Polish food stores have opened up around my neck of the woods. I regularly walk to one with my lad as we're both fans of E. Wedel chocolate (I first tried it a few years ago when an acquaintance got the UK distribution rights).
When we go in I'll often pick up some Sopocka (smoked pork loin). I'm also quite partial to the "7 Days" brand croissants. They come in plain or a variety of fillings.
Yesterday I bought some dark chocolate Jaffa Cake finger type things that had cherry goo instead of orange. Unfortunately I've binned the packaging before thinking about posting this so I can't remember the name but I'll get some more next time and share the details.
Tyskie, Zywiec and Lech are all great lagers and I drank plenty of them on a stag do in Gdansk a few years ago so they're a regular purchase.
Anybody else partial to a forage around these places and got any recommendations?

The Polish lagers have a nice, strong taste. After drinking Tyskie the likes of Carling and Coors taste really weak.
Over the past year or so I have been drinking Perla Miodowa, which is a honey lager. It's not to everyone's taste as it is sweet, and with an ABV of 6% lightweights like me can't have too many!

Kabanos, kabanos and more kabanos.
Pasztet - like a Polish pate made with venison or goose, sometimes with plum in it. So so good on some toast with a little mustard.
Also like picking up a pack or two of pierogi. Paszteciki and krokiety near the pierogi really good if you can get it.
These are like crack:

E. Wedel chocolate is awful stuff! So many horrible variants around Christmas time.
Now, the Orlen style hot dogs, not widely available but the Polish shop in Central MK does them, little bread sleeping bags, filled with delicious pig anus/lung/eyelid, tasty tasty!
The meats are usually nice, smoked pork loin. favourite.
Bread and other baked goodies such as bulk budyn.
Frugo drinks.
Princessa coconut wafer bars.
If you like packets of flavouring, there's loads!

If they are damson/plums covered in dark chocolate then I agree. I knew an old Polish Jew who lived in Golders Green (where else?) who imported these and peaches in some kind of juice in a glass jar. Preserved peaches in UK are pure sugar syrup but these were absolutley gorgeous and not sweet at all! The brand was something like Bulgarplod Pasztet - like a Polish pate made with venison or goose, sometimes with plum in it. So so good on some toast with a little mustard.

This! I have a Polish colleague at work and she keeps bringing these in. It's so moreish.Have you tried the kabanos with cheese inside?
They are like crack!

Problem is a lot of Eastern European shops have been shut down for selling moody tobacco over the last couple of years and the others don't have anywhere near the selection of the ones that shut.
They used to sell a thin beef kabanos that was quite biltong like but I've not seen it in any other shop.

I myself haven't bought this. But friends have bought this a couple of times from polish shops. Google it.
It's basically a pork lard spread you can put on bread. It f

You might need to ask them for it, they might only have it if they have a butcher/meat counter. But it's something that is really worth a try. Spread it on some good bread/toast. I do wish I lived closer to one as it would be something i'd buy. My local is romanian, i'm slightly intimidated to go in and ask. They always seem to have a queue on weekends. and there's always at least 10 people drinking outside at any one time.
