Anyone made scrambled eggs with an Ostrich egg?
Discussion
I have scrambled an ostrich egg on a stag do weekend away about 15 years ago. It is a lot of egg, 24 eggs equivalent sounds right. (We drilled the shell at each end to empty it and then all signed it as memento of the weekend.) I am a believer in cooking scrambled eggs slowly, but even so this took ages - even longer than I was expecting. I don't recall it making particularly memorable scrambled egg, but it was certainly expensive and a pain to get it out of the shell the way we did. (If you don't drill it you'll want a hammer.)

I got mine at Borough Market, but I see them in Waitrose these days (not by the dozen...).
You've actually seen them in the store? I know they do them online: https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/clarence-co...

Yes, they've definitely had them in store. Top shelf next to quail eggs and other essentials. I'm not sure they are regular stock though; it was a few months ago that I recall noticing them so it may have been at Christmas. I'll check next visit.I know they do them online: https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/clarence-co...

I moved to Surbiton a few months ago and we’ve got a big Waitrose, I wonder if they’ll stock them on the shelves when they’re in season. Would love to see an ostrich egg on the shelf! Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
