Ok bare with me as a bloke now living in his own - every smegging ready meal (indian) is chicken. I was in Morrison’s had they ONLY had chicken <everything> Where the fk is a lamb rogan josh or whatever?

I assume it’s because they can grow a chicken from a chick in 10 days flat or something gross

Buy lamb and and a curry sauce kit ormake your own curry. Make a batch and keep portions in your freezer.

Only on PH does someone ask if they can get a Lamb (or non-chicken) Curry Ready Meal and gets told to buy Mutton and make a curry from scratch!!

OP - M&S do Lamb Rogan Josh and King Prawn Bhuna.

Both as average as you'd expect - but it's not chicken!

They also do hot lamb curry in a tin, which sounds revolting but no worse than other ready meal curry.

I just checked Sainsbury's website and they only do one Indian meat based ready meal that isn't chicken

I don't eat ready meal curries. But I do use jars of paste, this is probably my favorite at the moment although the Pataks is ok. I add:
Diced beef
Onion
peppers
chillis (optional)
Tin of chopped tomatoes
Brown the meat on the hob, add the onons and peppers, cook for a bit. Add the past and tomatoes give it a stir then bung it in the oven, stiring every half hour.

Its not too dificult to knock one up yourself, Sainsburys even have the cooking instructions on their website
"Preheat oven to 180°C, Fan 160°C, Gas Mark 4. Heat 15ml oil in a frying pan over a medium heat. During cooking: Once oil is hot add 1 diced onion and pan fry for 4 minutes until soft, stirring regularly. Stir in 450g of lamb and the contents of the jar of Rogan Josh Curry Paste and fry for 4 minutes, until sealed and golden. Transfer to an ovenproof dish with a lid and add 200ml water and a 400g can of chopped tomatoes. Place on the middle of shelf in the oven and cook for 1 hour 30 minutes, until meat is tender".

I needed some minced lamb neck fillet at the weekend and the butcher (indy farm shop) had none fresh, only frozen and he mentioned it’s crazy pricey at the moment, guessing down to a lack of supply?

I have never understood why we produce so much lamb, sell it, then have to import it from New Zealand. silly

I Was chatting to the farmer next door (who buys his sheep tupped) and he said prices were very high as everyone had held back the previous year. I can't remember the reason.

Yet here in NZ, we usually pay more for our lamb than you can buy it for in Tescos!

There must be some freight/export issues at the moment, as the supermarkets have been selling lamb racks incredibly cheaply.

Waitrose do lamb meatballs which are good in a rogan josh type of sauce, in fact any type of sauce.

This - we have millions of paddock maggots, yet they're bloody expensive here because "export price." Transport them to northern hemisphere, where it's cheaper than country of origin.
Whenever racks are on special at New World, I get several. BBQ rare.

They were half price last week, and they had stupidly cheap beef fillets as well. Probably the only upside of covid spin
