Pre lockdown.

I love a hoppy bitter Hobsons was one of my favorites, unfortunately our local (one of the few around here that serve it) has closed. For good.

Trying other pubs but they're not quite getting it right. Either temp, keg, not kept well, some are pleasant, but never quite the beer cellar temp I remember and crave.

Maybe it's me. confused

I've enjoyed a very nice pint of Hobson's at the Fountain, but that was several years ago.

Was quaffing Wolf at the Boars yesterday, very nice indeed.

Was surprised to find that the boozer in the next town to me had Asahi on tap. It's not the greatest lager in the world, but its a huge step up from the usual Amstel and fosters you find by default in most.

Taste is so very subjective it is hard to offer advice.
I'm reminded of the time at the first pub I ever worked in when I was asked to change a barrel of lager.
That's odd thinks I, it's not quite empty, though there was clearly nothing being dispensed at the tap.
I quickly noticed that two of the lagers had been plumbed in the wrong way round by the manager after the last line clean.
Almost a whole barrel of Peroni and a whole barrel of Kronenberg missold as each other.
No one noticed.
Pub was probably 80% regulars as well, not one comment.
At another pub we had one regular plonker who would almost always complain about his first pint tasting funny.
It was because he used to suck mints on his drive in. Never happened when he got a cab as his polos lived in his car.
Can't comment on the beer in the OP, I've never served it but the biggest contenders for off form beer (assuming the lines are clean, you can taste the yeast build up if not) are too cold a cellar (prevents secondary fermentation), beers being rushed (same), too little turnover and manky glass washers.
