Posh restaurant needed, London.
Discussion
Previously I have had some excellent suggestions here, so I am appealing again.
My wife and I are dining out in London in December and I am looking for a restaurant that I could happily wear a dinner jacket to and my wife a long dress.
I would prefer modern English or perhaps European, but not Indian or Chinese, etc.
We are staying in Leicester Square, so bonus marks for anywhere close.
Over to you guys and gals,
Thanks R2R

Consider Ormer at Fleming's Hotel, very good
Better than the hotel, then. On the occasions when I have stayed there, it has seemed a bit low-rent and the bar a dingy marketplace for Russian escorts.I am intrigued as to the answer to the OP's question, however. I cannot think of anywhere in London where black tie is suitable every day. In fact, the only place I can think of that encourages it is Burgh Island, which is not in London obvs. I'd be delighted to be educated otherwise.

Is this dinner for two? A DJ would seem slightly odd for that wouldn't it? Black tie is normally 'event rig', i.e. party dress.
Yes dinner for two. Been to many restaurants where other people have been wearing dinner jackets, I guess the name helps, and it looked great.12TS said:
I was there a few weeks ago, very good food. Not particularly modern inside but I thought it was different. Very 1970s inside. Service and food was perfect. There isnt really anywhere where the norm would be a dinner suit or where you wouldnt look out of place wearing one when nobody else is. Even the three star places likes Ramsays on Hospital Road and Core etc would think you were a bit odd. If you must do it then a hotel restaurant is probably best and cartainly not in Covent Garden. Maybe park lane somewhere like Alain Ducasse. Maybe Claud Bosi at Bibendum.
Rules is nice but very old fashioned and you would look a tool i a dinner suit. The best advice is to get out of the covent garden and leicester square area. Its basically a tourist trap and very few really decent restaurants, certainly at the top end.

Yes probably the stand out restaurant in the area
craigjm - is there anything at all about food, cooking or restaurants that you *don't* know? You seem to be a walking encylopedia of just about everything edible; top skills!
I also enjoy cooking at home and challenging myself My breakfast skills let me down CDG as you know from the thread
