I love meat but never been particularly keen on a roast, especially if it's beef. Pork is great but I really just want the crackling. And lamb is great unless it's been ruined with mint sauce. But I tend to prefer my meat done in other ways. And I hate the veggies and trimmings that come with a roast in the UK. Especially roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings. So I'd almost always go for a full English. Hold the tomatoes and give me extra bacon, rind on please!
Roast dinner please! Whoever said they don't like the trimmings doesn't really get it.
Got to be a decent home cooked one with real gravy, not one of those sad pub affairs with soggy veg and a lake of sticky brown bisto that looks and tastes like woodstain.
Have to admit I have gone off a full English now we are eating less meat. Scrambled eggs, or eggs Benedict, now my breakfast of choice.

A good quality full breakfast for me.
Done right each component is a special treat enjoyed individually in their own right, whereas I find the plate with a roast is a main event & lots of fairly disappointing “support acts” (sometimes you get exceptional sides like well cooked roast potatoes but more often than not a disappointment)

I find it hard to find good roasts in restaurants or pubs. Quite often they can't even get the potatoes right.
Homecooked have been the most memorable.
Full English however, it has to be a filthy greasy cafe. Bacon very well done and a big mug of proper tea. Baked beans a must with loads of brown sauce.
Most hotel breakfasts always miss out the beans for some reason.

That is a very good point. I don't know how so many places manage to mess them up.However for the OP's question it's no contest....fry up for breakfast, roast for dinner.

I think I'm the opposite. The meat of a roast often plays side fiddle to the lovely accompaniments. It's the sort of food my mum excels at, and she taught me. Also a high proportion of my friends are very talented chefs so I never have to put up with soggy spuds or plain uninspiring veg.Done right each component is a special treat enjoyed individually in their own right, whereas I find the plate with a roast is a main event & lots of fairly disappointing “support acts” (sometimes you get exceptional sides like well cooked roast potatoes but more often than not a disappointment)
REALLY hungry now!
