Pork free Christmas accompaniments...
Discussion
We have someone coming at Christmas who can't get over pigs being dirty from their religious upbringing. He's trying, and even had a decent go at some black pudding, but doesn't relish it.
Stuffing is an easy win, my go to is 50:50 chestnuts and sausage meat which is obviously out so I could do with an alternative. (Wife's just announced she finds it too rich anyway!) Do you think I could substitute turkey mince and, say, goose fat for the sausage meat? Or some sort of veggie alternative?
And while I can't see that a pigless pigs in blankets would work, I'm all ears for a suggestion!

Never had stuffing with meat in it, so that's an easy one - leave the meat out you meat addict!
FPWM. Got any recipes? Preferably with chestnut, cos Christmas...
Not really convinced about turkey bacon at all, and I suspect there might be rebellion from the kids if I f
k about with the pigs in blankets too much.

Have a look at Cranberry and Chestnut stuffing there should be a veggie version (I had one at a hotel some years ago and remember very much enjoying it). Skip the bacon for the guy who doesn't enjoy it and you'll be just fine.

My OH's a vegetarian and loves stuffing (no comments, it's not Christmas yet).

Fry up a diced red onion in butter. Mix with the sage and onion stuffing mix and cook as normal (we do it separately in a dish. Fork up the top and and small knobs of butter to encourage crispy bits.
With everything else going on with Christmas dinner it doesn't need anything else.
