Hello people of pistonheads,

I am getting money for a blender for Christmas. My old budget one died valiantly trying to make my first pina colada.

I am a keen cook and I was planning on getting a really good blender. However it turns out I could get a magimix food processor with a “blender ring”. I quite like the idea of two machines in one.

Has anyone used a magimix processor with a blender ring for blending and if so how did it go? I’m currently on the fence about what to get.

Just googled that. Not seen it before but it looks okay. Biggest problem with trying to blend anything is it needs to be a reasonable amount and you are constantly having to scrape the bowl down which this looks to avoid. Suspect you still need to be doing a litre of liquid at least though.

For soups etc I have a 5200 which works okay but I am still after a mini blender for oils <250ml

How about something like a Kenwood Chef, I have one and use it quite a lot, I have their food processor, blender jug, juicer etc that sit on top. Lots of attachments for different jobs, needing dough, mixing etc.

+1 for a kenwood chef. I’ve bought lots of accessories over time and it’s a great unit. Plus it has loads more power and torque for chopping and blending.

Kenwood is always a good shout.

OP, how much do you want to spend?

Only problem with my Kenwood Chef is its a big beast to lug in/out of the cupboard unless you can leave it on the worktop. We usually leave ours out on the worktop and store away all the attachments. Wife uses it mostly for the blender, I use it for making pizza dough.

Another vote for the Kenwood, our Titanium gets lots of use for mixing, blending, kneading, and making pastry and pasta. But as said they are quite expensive and big and heavy. If you have the space and the budget though they're excellent.

Righto, I will go and look at the Kenwood’s. I don’t mind spending the money if it’s worth it. What I don’t want to do was treat myself to a magimix processor then find out it’s not great at blending.
