Anyone tried Jeremy Clarkson's lager?
Discussion
At this price I don't imagine I will be trying it any time soon:

I'm not a great lager fan. If James May produced a bitter I might be tempted.

To a couple of pints !Edited by twibs on Thursday 23 December 15:36

Still on the quest for a perfect bottled beer.
Currently supping Butty Bach, enjoy it on draft but bottled is a bit average. Some Woodfordes Wherry in the fridge so I'll try some next.
My favorite is Proper Job, not up to decent draft, but best of the bunch so far.
I think the price of Clarkson's lager has shot up in the last couple of weeks due to every one buying it, and supplies running low, so places like Amazon just bump the price up.
When it was launched it became the best selling beer on Amazon within 8 hours apparently.
My favourite bottled beers/lagers/ales are:
Cumbrian Ales - Loweswater Gold
Sharps - Atlantic Pale Ale
Hawkshead Brewery - Windermere Pale
St James Gate Brewery - Rockshore

Windermere Pale is a 'Pale' shadow of it's former self - it's changed beyond all recognition since they jettisoned the rump of their brewing skills when Covid bit and the owner took a savage commercial line at odds with their stated egalitarian principles and sacked the core brewing staff who had helped him build the business. When it was launched it became the best selling beer on Amazon within 8 hours apparently.

Look a little further East and you'll find Allendale Pennine Pale (superb) or their 'Hop On' (formerly GFPA) - Booths carry it.
Loweswater Gold is okay but, again, not at all what it was - many brewers have reduced hop content to save money

This makes me despair somewhat, but then lager drinkers...When it was launched it became the best selling beer on Amazon within 8 hours apparently.

£30-35 for 12 x 330ml bottles is about the going rate for premium craft lager from small brewers. Nothing unusual or OTT about his pricing.

Fair enough, maybe I’m unaware then. I’m stuck in my ways with a box of 12 Coronas being around £12.

I’ve paid more than £12 for a single can before (although not a lager).

I haven't had much windermere pale over the last year, but I got a box of bottles last week from Booths, and I can't say I've noticed it being different, but then again the bottles always taste different to the cask, and I usually drink it in a pub rather than from bottles at home.
I appreciate its a personal taste thing, but to me Loweswater Gold is without question, my favourite ale. Ever. I don't like ales/beers that taste overly hoppy, and maybe the reason I like Loweswater is because it's always had that really mellow taste without too much hops.
Bumping this thread to see if anyone got a few bottles for Christmas and can report their thoughts. I have my reservations about whether it's really good or just hyped. Because of the marketing hype even searching on Google for a written review is proving difficult. Will it knock Warsteiner from the top of my totem pole?

Thing with reviews is everyone has different tastes. Probably easier to buy a couple of bottles and find out. ecsrobin said:

This is true, but I'm struggling to find any reviews that aren't on Amazon. Plus, while everyone has different tastes, decent reviewers can give some useful outline of a beer's flavours or aromas. They might not be able to tell me if I'll like the beer personally but that sort of information can be very useful. I'm no reviewer but I can tell you that Warsteiner, which I mentioned in my last post as my favourite pilsner, has a crisp, bitter - and very distinctive - aftertaste when compared to a Budweiser, etc.Levin said:

Lord of reviews on Untappd. Although always makes me laugh “solid lager - 3.75/5” surely if it’s solid it would be close to 5? Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

k that!
