Looks like Mrs Miniman has volunteered to host the neighbours on Friday night. Nothing big, just 6-8 adults, 2 vegetarians. Any interesting ideas for nibble type options?

How "nibbly" do you want?

On Christmas Eve we did a roasted veg veggie chilli (with some rice) and slow cooked brisket with onions (with soft bread rolls, though some of the southern contingent couldn't get their heads around a hot brisket sandwich so had it with rice smile). All went down a storm, especially the brisket.

We also laid on straightforward "chips n dips"....Doritos/decent S&V crisps and a few dips.

M&S do a decent range of party food too which looks and tastes good. It's a bit more hassle to prep though (even though they've done the majority of it so it all cooks in the same temp oven, just with varying times). Plenty of selection for both meat eaters and veggies. Their dip selection is usually pretty good too (they do a "bang bang satay" dip that disappears in seconds here!).

Depends what you're after really - convenience for you (one pot slow cooking works) or variety for your guests.
